I’m originally from Iglulik and am now living in Sanirajak, Nunavut. My primary role is to bridge the gap between renewable energy projects and local northern communities, which are disproportionately affected by reliance on diesel fuel for power. This involves ensuring that projects are community-driven and provide long-term benefits – not just technological solutions.

I’m actively involved in community engagement, and often provide opening speeches, to ground everyone in why we’re all here doing this work. I also provide school visits to educate youth about renewable energy and I’ve participated in national Indigenous-led training programs on the clean energy transition, in order to bring that knowledge back to Nunavut.

I have received a certificate in professional Inuktitut skills for first language speakers through Pirurvik, completed online cultural communications courses through the University of British Columbia, and I attended both the SevenGen Summit in Iqaluit and the 20/20 Catalysts Program, across Canada with a cohort of my peers.
